Is it safe to run the car with JUST shorties (for a brief period of time)

My question is
Since Im installing my headers and y-pipe in my garage, I need to know if this procedure is safe. I first plan to install the headers themselves (Hooker SuperComp shorties), then I plan on running the engine (with just the headers) just long enough to back it up and drive up on my ramps to install the ypipe. Does this sound safe or are there some concerns about running on just the shorties? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

It shouldnt hurt anything for that short period of time. The problem is you have no backpressure like that. Just don't rev the engine up much.

you should be ok, but make sure they aren't aimed at a fuel line, or anything else you wouldn't want getting cooked

I've done this install and it's a pain in the butt. You will probably have to get under the car anyway, to get at some of those tough to reach botlts so it might not hurt to put it on the ramps first, they can't be so high that you can't work on it. I wouldn't worry about moving it though, like mentioned above, as long as they don't come off near anything that can get damaged from the heat. And actually I ran my car out of the y pipe once and turned the best times ever, see sig, and felt bad to put the tubes on lol. The only downside was that this thing sounded like 10 Harleys parked in my ear, and the floor boards were actually vibrating to the eye. Well so it goes, good luck.

I just put the car on jackstands when it was time for the Y-pipe, you'll need all the room you can get.

I took my car for about a 20 mile drive to the exhaust shop after putting on my headman shorties, didn't have any problems. One thing though, those mugs will be hot even from just backing up. Also make sure there are no flammable chemicals (oil, fuel, etc) spilled under your car because flames are going to shoot out of your headers.
