Well, my father and I have wrapped everything up with my 1986 Pontiac Firebird. Today we just got the valve lifters set. We went to start the car up to check on how the car was running. We lost all power. Nothing comes on, absolutely nothing. We replaced the battery and the connections. Everything worked fine every other time we started it up. It had happened before with everything cutting out. But that time when I turned the key, everything jumped to life once it should begin to crank. Any ideas what this problem could be? We don't think it's the ignition switch only because everything is off, including the interior lights.

 

We figured out that the solenoid is junk. Busy day tonight, so we'll pick up a new start tonight and put it in tommorrow. Then we'll adjust the last two rockers that aren't quite cooperating and thats it. New valve covers go on, and the air cleaner goes back on. From there, it's back on the road. Supposed to be today, but I guess tommorrow will be good enough. Hopefully.
