ok, i got my car back from the tech and he said among other things, my exhaust check valves werent working correctly and the exhaust seals might be bad. my questions are, what does an exhaust check valve and what does it do, where is it located. and what are exhaust seals, where are they located and what do they do?

The check valves are the things where the rubber hoses in the AIR system join the metal ones. They rarely go bad.

No idea about exhaust seals. Maybe they're inside the muffler bearings?

Sounds to me like this guy gets paid by the number of times he makes you come back. I'd take it somewhere else to get it smogged.

i got it smogged back in the summer time, after changing the plugs cap and rotor.
