My hood is broken.....

My hood wont stay up by itself. I've come to the conclusion that the little piston thingys are shot. Does anybody know where I can get some new ones or how I can fix them?

Any generic parts store (Pep Boys, Strauss, Auto Zone, etc) sells those hood struts. You can also find them thru http://www.jcwhitney.com and I'm sure a million other online places. I think the ones for the hood are around $25/each, the hatchback ones are around $40/each.

That seems to be a pretty common problem. The hood shocks (I think thats what they are called) seem to wear out pretty easily over the years. They are fairly easy to find, most auto parts stores should sell them. They can be pretty expensive, but should be under a hundred. Good luck.

I've replaced both the hood struts and hatch struts on mine, and they were both easy to find, and fairly inexpensive. TomP was right on the money for the hatch ones, $39.99 from Pep Boys, and the hood struts (also from Pep Boys) were only $16.99! Both were in stock on the shelves, no special ordering required. Replacing them is a breeze, and it's nice to be able to work on the motor, or get into the hatch without a brookstick in the way
