higher insurance?

I'm looking for my first car, and I have my eye on a '91 camaro. My mom is gonna fight me on it though, because it has 165,000 miles on it, and my sis thinks my insurance will go high because its a sports car. I know chevy's have awesome reliability and I know that the oil changes have been done routinely because previous owners were mechanics. Also, because its an older car I don't think my insurance will be too high, its my first car so I don't have anything on record, and I am a girl. (I hear that makes a difference.) Please help my convince my family. I'm a total american muscle girl and it would make me so happy to get this car. Thanx

Hey welcome to the baords. I will put it this way. When I was 18 I had an 89 buick century with 165k miles. I sold it and got my 90 RS with only 21,000 miles. Mind you I am still 18 at the time and had full coverage. My insurance went up $50 per year between the two vehicles. These old RS cars are slow and have no value. Your insurance company is aware of this and will quote you accordinly. Just pick up the phone and get a few quotes to be certian for yourself.
