New Camshaft

I have just installed a new camshaft into my 1991 pontiac firebird TBI 5.0L. It's a compcam 2020 with about 268*intake and 283* exhaust duration. For some reason I am having problems with my computer recognizing this new camshaft. My car runs exactly the same (tested with time slips) except for now my motor wont rev past 4.5K rpm and the idle is way down. It's the weirdest thing and I was wondering what the cure was. I figure a chip will set or straight, but is it possible for my stocker computer to be reprogrammed to take this new cam? (I already reset it) Thanks in advance for any help or advice you may offer.

Mike

tuning

TBI always need chip tuning when you change the cam or heads. sometimes it runs slower but it is all fixable with chip tuning. I do not meen some off the shelf chip I recomend you find a shop that will datalog ang burn you a custom chip and reburn till you get it just right.
