Need Help

HI EVERYONE JUST A QUICK QUESTION? I HAVE A 88 IROCZ 5.7L TPI WITH THE EXTERNAL IGNITION COIL HEI DISTRIBUTOR. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO REMOVE THE METAL STAR SHAPED TEETH WHICH IS SITUATED UPON THE PICKUP COIL. I NEED TO REPLACE THIS PICKUP COIL THANX

Welcome to the board!! To answer your question, remove distributor and knock out the roll-pin that holds the gear on the shaft as shown in the picture and then disassemble the distributor shaft. Re-assemble in the reverse order. BTW, when posting on the board, please be so kind as to leave the caps lock off. It is considered impolite to post in all caps.

hey guys thanxs for getting back to me so quick, so i am to remove the whole shaft and remove the gear pin just to get at this magnetic pickup wow did not think it was that involved. hey let me ask does the magnetic coil need to be changed and about how many miles average on these tpis
