Headers
If I buy headers for my bassically stock L03, and I buy new headers for it, will I need to get new headers if I go with aftermaket heads later, or if I swap in a 350 or someething in the next year or so, or are they all pretty much the same?
Also whats the best ones out there for a reasonable price?

All headers are the same bolt pattren as far as I know. I have never seen a header with a different bolt pattren. Some head companys say you can't run factory manafolds on theyr heads. I don't know the best header for your set up i.e. what size primary tube size you need,if you plan on going with a different exhaust(if you want just bolt ons) or if you want a y-pipe with them. I like my edelbrocks but the pass side is a little hard to install. But they are cerama coated and come with a caramic coated y-pipe.
good luck in your search

I have the Edelbrock TES for my 89 RS w/ the 305 TBI motor in it. The difference they made was unbelievable.
Yes you will be able to use your headers on aftermarket heads and with your stock heads. One thing to be warry of though is that L98 Vette heads and Vortec heads have different design exhaust ports than the standard small block Chevy design, so you may run into trouble if you use those heads. However you could probably make them work one way or another. Basically, any other aftermarket heads with the normal SB Chevy exhaust port will work with them.
As far as choosing headers, the Edelbrock's are 1 5/8" headers, which is good for a 305. If you're planning on going to a 350 or 383, it'd be best to get 1 3/4" headers. However the 1 3/4" headers will cause the 305 to lose some torque in the lower RPMs. I'm not sure, but SLP might make 1 5/8" headers, and I know they make 1 3/4" headers.
