msd OEM style GM external coil

If you have got one of these, were you able to tell a big difference?

Only way a coil will make a difference is if you are having problems igniting the mixture. On a somewhat stock car, its not going to make any difference.

What about being able to open up the spark gap, for a better (not a good word) hmmm, more efficient burn.
I do run the MSD HEI coil, BUT in line with an MSD 6AL @ 6500RPM’s.

I once dropped an Accel super coil, on my '81 with some 'hype' plugs (rapid fires), and it ran like crap -pop-pop-his-his. I guess it found a weakness in one of my plug wires(Accel 8.8) ???
I guess what I'm saying there is that they can cause some adverse effects also.

About the only stock thing left is the interior. I went from 305 to 383. I should probably get an MSD 6AL box or comparable to boost the ignition to match the engine size change, huh? Something more than just an aftermarket coil?

That would be a good idea. It will do much more than a coil ever could.

With "just" an aftermarket spark coil, I noticed a little extra push in higher rpm's. You could always put the MSD coil on now, and get the box later.
