Rod and Main Bearing ?'s and Recommendations
okay so I spun a couple bearings, minor grooves in a couple bearings, a few burrs in the spun bearings, and a few good bearings.... none of the grooves or burrs are deep (atleast to my eye), so I'm going to have the crank machined.... but what size bearings should I get for this? Or would the machinist have to specify that?
What brand bearings should I get for this? I hear Fel Pro, but is there anything else? Also how much should I expect to spend on the new bearings (rod and mains.... mains arent really harmed, but figured i might as well replace them while i have them out) ?

What was the source of the problem? Just out of curiosity.
Isn't it you who was replacing your oil pump last mo?
I've tried Fed Mogul and Clevite. Some guys swear by one and hate the other. They're each different, and they'll each tolerate a different sort of abuse better than the other.
But for me to say what one's strengths or weaknesses might be compared to the other would only be guesswork.

Clevite, and talk to machinist, will do.
Yes, it was me who was replacing the oil pump last month. I got that fixed, and turns out when my oil pump got shot I also shot some bearings
Or vice-versa... either way, my oil pump and bearings are shot.
I dont think it has anything to do with the cam bearings, and since i had a couple spun bearings I am almost positive all my problems come from that and the oil pump dieing out on me (still not sure why it stopped working, it seemed to be all good on the inside, but replaced it with the good oil pump anyways).
I dont want to do a full rebuild (dont have the cash), I dont have the money to have the block taken apart and hot tanked and thoroughly cleaned out and bored and machined to precision, I need it to work reliably... I dont have crazy HP numbers in hope for this car. Though I still wonder which would be cheaper.... having this crank machined and getting new bearings, or going to a junkyard and having a 010 casting 350 block pulled w/ the bottom end attached still... and hope that it's not in the junkyard because the bottom end is shot

I personally prefer to avoid Clevite.... too many quality control problems over the last few years..... I've been using SpeedPro (Federal Mogul) mostly

The bearings usually tell a story as far as what the sousce of the problem was. Do they look like they had grit in them?
I have a block that I'm working on right now and it wasn't til I had it apart for the third time that I finally found the source of a bunch of grit that was getting in there. There were some pockets if stuff that didn't come out when it was tanked, at the back of the block where the oil return holes are. Little things like that turn into big problems, with engines. As I'm sure you're aware.

I havent fully figured out the problem to it, I'm hoping that whatever it was, just got into my oil filter and plugged it or something which resulted in my no oil pressure thing, which made me think my oil pump was out (wishful thinking I know). Tommorow I'll try to take pictures of all the bearings and maybe you guys can help me out there?
There was no grit on my bearings, they were very smooth, both the crank journals, and the bearings. i realize that grooves mean there was dirt or metal chunks in the oil... at one point, or when the bearings got spun. I'll call around and see what kind of deal I can get for my crank to get machined, but if it costs as much as a junkyard 010 350 block then I'm going to get the 010 block and dish out a little bit more money to make sure that block is in decent condition and have a shop swap the blocks for me.
I have pictures of my bottom end after I put the oil pump in, but no idea where to host them to show you guys, if anyone knows of a good site that I can remote link to.

modified, no, not to my knowledge atleast. The person I bought the car from (it had been his mother's car when they bought it new, and handed down to him) he knew little to nothing about cars, (and I could attest for this as when he was showing me the engine he points at some parts that were shiney and obviously new and goes "that shiney thing we had replaced about 6 months ago, that shiney thing we had replaced 9 months ago, i just had this replaced 3 weeks ago...")... so i doubt it's modified.
Plugged, I dont know, how might i check?
