am i going to see any gains?

i imagine i will, but how much of a difference will i see with these mods?

this cam; about halfway down; .470/.470 lift 226/282 dur.
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...54&prmenbr=361

these headers
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...17&prmenbr=361

with these mufflers hooked right to the headers with a turndown right after that
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...00&prmenbr=361

with this intake manifold, the 2800-7200 teamG manifold
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...40&prmenbr=361

and about a 600 CFM carb, probably a holley

..all on an LG4 v8

what kind of HP gains do you think i would be at and where do you think i would be at as far as 1/4 time goes and such?

thanks

well i would see that you will gian a good amount. of noticble gains.. but a set of heads would be very nice.. would mkae it breath alot better also..vortecs are cheep and flow relitivly well.. and you would just need a diffren't intake. the cam would work fine with the vortecs. then add some lt1 springs. and thats all i would change if i could change anythign to yours

You should see a reasonable amount of gain after all that, but as already mentioned...a good set of heads would really help wake it up. As far as the purple hornies go, good luck with them. I had them on mine at first right after I put my headers on and had a hard time trying to find a way to get them held up, they angled down so much that they were always scraping under the car. They will make the car sound really good though IMO...and really loud.

loud is good!

one thing i wanted to stay away from was the heads, too expensive.. working at mcdonalds doesnt give me alot of extra cash, and it will probably take me untill next summer to buy all of those parts, let alone a $800 pair of heads..

of course i will be going other stuff like opening up the hood and geting an open air element and a general tune up, simple cheap general maintenance stuff like that, i can probably grab a couple ponies out of that as well

With all the mods you listed in the original post, you will be wasting your money...in a sense... if you dont do heads. Without the heads you will not use the maximum potential of those parts. You will most likely need to get a chip burnt as well with those mods you have listed.

I am surprised this hasn't been asked yet and I should have asked it in my first reply to this post.

The most important question that will help us to help you, is...What are you wanting to do with the car? Is it all street, street/strip (limited strip time), all strip (with limited street time), or roadrace...what do you want to do with it.

well it will be my summer car, and i plan on taking it to the track once or twice to put down some times, but its not gonna be full blown race. mostly for just scootin around with the tops off pickin up the chicks. ive had 3 slow cars before this one and i want a quick one, one that when im next to a buick lesabre at a stop light i wont get blown away

forgot to add.. i didnt know my car had a computer chip? not trying to be a jerk or anything but i thought that was for fuel injected cars? mines carbureted.. but it has a chip??

Ok...so I take it you have something else as a daily driver and this is a fair weather car? If I am correct in that assumption, what kind of power are you looking to make?

well for the winter and bad weather i drive a 92 Sonoma 4.3 4WD

i want to make enough power to lay down rubber through 3 gears, get up to 100 mph relatively quickly and safely, and have enough power to pass people without taking half a mile and show a couple ricers what a v8 car looks like from the tail light point of view, basically

ill just throw out 260, but thats probably a bit high, but realistically i would like to get around 210-220 at the wheels

210-220 at the wheels is somewhat close to 260 crank HP.

To set things straight, your car DOES have a "chip" in it (aka ECM). The carb is computer-controlled meaning you have an oxygen sensor, and the computer controls the carb's functioning based on sensor input, etc. Nevertheless you can do most tuning with the carb, or you could ditch the computer and get a quality aftermarket carb. Seems to be a popular choice for those not requiring emissions.

I also would agree to get some heads. I have a set of LT1 valvesprings that would work for you if you'd be interested. Ya can email me at dean@xibase.com. Another option would be porting your stock heads...they can be made to flow very well.

hmm, ecm eh? we have no emissions testing here in MN so ill have to look into that..

another thing just came to mind, if i did the exhaust listed above, a camshaft designed for nitrous, and kept the everything else stock and added a 100 shot of nitrous would i have more power from that, or if i did everything listed above?of course i wouldnt be using the nitrous on the street, justthe couple times that i would be going to the track.

im probably going to go the orignal route with replacing stuff \ and not running nitrous, i was just wondering about it.. maybe if i have enough money left over afterwardsi can adda nitrous system on top of everything. my reasoning is that if i had a built motor i could usethe power all the time, whereas ifi had nitrous and alot of stock stuff i would only have power at the track, andill only be going to the track once or twice.. therefor i get more use out of my power by not using nitrous

I believe you answered your own question there... use nitrous AFTER you get the motor flowing nice
