Oil pan ?

Is it possible to remove the oil pan with the engine still in the car?

-shudders- it's a hell of a job. I've had to do it twice now.

Thing's you'll need to do:

put car on jack stands
-remove motor mount screws
-remove dizzy cap and unscrew that tabby -thing in the dizzy and move it in the way (so you can move the engine back more)
-if you can remove your y-pipe all together that would save you a lot of hassle... at the least take the y-pipe off of the headers/manifolds
jack up the engine by the balancer
-take two pieces of 2x4's and put them between the clamshell engine mounts so you can take the jack out
-unbolt/casterate(take away the nuts) on the oil pan, then drop it.
-move the #4 piston to TDC (IIRC)
-take oil pan out from under the car using some persuasion.

that should get it out... you'll probably have to jack up the engine as much as you can, with the 2x4's inbetween the clamshells (incase it falls) so you can get enough room while you pry the y-pipe away, and try to manuever the oil pan.

What do you need to drop it for anyways if you dont mind my asking

Slid off the road into a parking lot, hit a parking stall bump, gouged out the oil pan. Got it home right before i lost oil pressure.
