283 -60 over

Hi, i just bought a 283 rebuilt eng and
pulled the cyl heads for another 283 i run
currently what would the displacement be
283-60 over thanks GTA....

Incidentally, you should pick up 9 cubes and about 2/10 point compression, or have a 292 at whatever compression - better get some pretty tall rear gears...

Yup, 292... halfway to a 302, more or less.

I had a motor like that once, BIG solid cam in it, in front of a 4-speed; it was a blast. I have never had, or even driven, any other motor that was so rev-happy. Nothing quite like getting sideways in 1st gear at 55 mph, shifting at 65, and still having all those gears left!!

283 crank + 350 block = 302 CID
3" stroke + 4" bore = 8000 RPM

That combination came from the factory in the 67-69 Z28. The three inch stroke is short enough that the engine likes to rev.

lol, i was just thinking wtf people around here would say if i strolled up "Yea, i have a 302 in my car..." I'd probably get a 1-way ticket to the hospital
