Still no fuel pressure...suggestions welcome

'91 3.1 car will start and run when cold then die after about 5 minutes. No fuel pressure on attempted restart after car is hot. I threw a new FPR and oil pressure switch on - still a no go. Open for suggestions. Thanks - Dan

Sounds like maybe your fuel pressure is very low. When the car is cold, what fuel pressure is there is enough to run the car. but when the car warms up, perhaps vapor lock occurs, ie fuel dries up in the fuel lines. I would get a fuel pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure. Sounds like your fuel pump may be dying.

Pressure reads 28 psi on prime and 39 psi while running. Problem is car dies after reaching operating temp and then I have Zero pressure until car sits and cools down. Dan

I'M HAVING A SIMILAR PROBLEM. I HAVE ONLY 27PSI AT IDLE AND WHEN IT'S HOT OUTSIDE AND I TAKE THE CAR TO TOWN, A 85 MILE ROUND TRIP, IT BUCKS AND TRIES TO STOP, THERE IS A STRANGE SMELL, AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF OVERDRIVE IN ORDER TO DRIVE IT. THE WIERDEST THING IS THAT THE LAST TIME IT DID THIS, TUESDAY, THE CAR TEMPRETURE WASN'T EVEN HOT! ALL PREVIOUS TIMES THE TEMPRETURE WAS OVER 220 DEGREES. WE REPLACED THE EGR VALVE AND THAT DIDN'T FIX IT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR AND THE PICKUP COIL, I'M GONNA TRY THE CHEAPEST ONE FIRST, THE PICKUP COIL, AND IF YOU ALREADY REPLACED THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY THE PICKUP COIL. GOOD LUCK TO BOTH OF US.
