350 won't fire up(?)
Just spent 2 weeks building up this 350 4-bolt and finally got it in the car today.Went to fire it up,and she's backfiring through the carb like it's out of time or something.Took the cap off and the rotor is pointing at number 1 terminal just like it's supposed to,with the timing mark on 8 degrees.Do you guys think maybe i'm not on the compression stroke for the #1 cylinder? Can i just pull the distributor,do a full revolution of the motor, and drop the distributor back in to correct this?Or will it make no difference.Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Does sound like the distrib might be 180* off...
You could turn the engine once, or if I'm not mistaken, just flip the rotor around 180 degrees.
