purpose of 6.0 rods?

I was wondering what is the gain from 6.0 rods over 5.7?

you can use the 6.0 rod if your stroking the motor to a 383 with using the stock 350 crank. if you go with the 5.7 inch rods you have to buy 400 crank.

With 6.0" rids it makes the angle that the rod is at shorter, making it 'push' the piston into the wall less.

The ONLY way to stroke your motor is with a different crank, changing the rods will not change your CID, if you try to use a 6.0 rod with a piston intended for 5.7" rods your going to run into trouble, BIG trouble.

what can be gained? Longevity.

How could the stroke on a 350 possibly change with a stock 350 crank?

Thanks guys I understand now! The pistons for 6.0 rods have the wrist pins higher right?

You can increase the stroke on a crank by offset grinding, but you would end up with a very small rod pin, you would have to offset grind the crank pins by .130 I think, so you would end up with a very small pin size of 1.84 in.

There's offset grinding, yes, but good luck getting a 3.75" stroke for a 383 that way.

longer rods also increases the "dwell" at the top of the cylender allowing pressure to build better, and therefore increasing power, you want the longest rod possable for the biges't bang for your buck
