Axle/Gears: 3.42 pos w/rear db
If the engine is the original engine it should be a roller cam. I've read that the 305 and 350 car engines beginning in 1987 were roller cam from the factory.

This is true, they started using new blocks in -87, cams don't interchange before and after, cranks neither, unless you use an adapter.

Cams do interchange so long as you change the appropriate valvetrain et al.

If you want to make sure of the block, get the casting number and look it up here (using the search) or at mortec.com.

I would actually verify that the engine/heads are as advertised, unless you are certain that the car is completely stock. I say this because if a TBI longblock was swapped in to replace a dead L98, you wouldn't know unless you checked the head/engine casting #.

I know this from experience

I just wish that the engine I have in my 91 had a roller cam, even a truck grind, instead of the flat tappet one in there.
