..after idling for sometime and without depressing the accelerator i noticed that when i opened the secondary flapper(engine not running)the secondary butteflies where moist with gas... i thought the metering rods only delivered fuel when the secondaries open... mine apparently does so when closed... is that normal? or do i have to adjust something? my gas consumption is way above what i usually got with my old 2bbl... and i'm sure i'm not depressing the accelerator enough to open the secondaries... any opinions/suggestions?

Sounds like your float level is way too high...

hmmm, i'll go check it out, so the secondary rods shouldn't be delivering fuel, even in small amounts, during idling? if the float is ok what else could be the problem?

 

One other thing...are you sure it was fuel? Gas will tend to evaporate VERY quickly off of hot carb parts. Just a thought...
