If money is no problem, go with AFR's. either the 180's or 195's

what kind of compression would be good to run with this motor? ive been told to use the fel-pro shims 4.100"x .15, said that will help with compression, what should my compression be at now?

Any of the Afr's would be fine, you just don't want to go past 195 with your combo. I forget which ones they actually have. 180 and 195 were just what came to mind.

There is a formula to figure out compression ratio, i'm sure it is on TGO somewhere

If you're planning on buying a new TPI base anyway, some vortecs would be worth looking into. With the cam you have it probably wouldn't be nessecary to go with large runner vol, and there may actually be some advantage to the 170cc runners of the vortec heads.
And it's possible that a set of stock vortecs would work with your combo without modifications, which would mean a cost savings to you since vortecs are so inexpensive.

Press in studs, and the springs will definitely need changed, and he'll have to cut the valve guide down. Running .452" lift on mine, and I am JUST under the recommended guide/retainer clearance. I'm not running a motor that is high RPM, so I didn't worry about it.

Fast burn chambers are awesome, but the Vortec TPI base cost, plus their stock "weaknesses" add to more cost/hassle, that you won't run into with other aftermarket heads.

I used retrofit roller lifters, so yes, I had to change pushrod length.
