What should the fuel pressure be?

With a gauge hooked up to the fuel rail, what should the fuel pressure be just turning the key on??

You'll need to mention what sort of engine you're running. Also is it the stock fuel pump, etc.

carbs should have a pressure of 6-7psi, injectors need much more. But mine has a mechanical pump, and that means that until the engine is cracking, you get nothing.

Si.

ps. Also would have thought a search would yield the answer.......

With the car at Idle, it should be at 36/38 PSI. This is for a stock TPI car.

the pressure with the key on, not running. My car will not start and I am going through the paces. 35/36 is where it is at, again not running, only with key on.

So you do have correct fuel pressure.

I guess so, so let me ask, will old gas keep a vehicle from cranking? I mean it is not even trying to run.

I just got the engine together. Vehicle turns over fine, checked spark, good. Pulled number one plug, wet with gas. Question.. on an 89 gta tpi engine 350, is it possible to mix up the injector connectors. I am running out of things to try. thanks for any help

No, all the injectors on one side have a common 10 amp fuse, and each side is switched to ground by the ECM.

if you have air, fuel, and spark it could be a timing issue. the distributor could be 180* out?

Get the timming light out! but check to see if you have a timming control link that has to be disconnected first. That should tell you if your in the ball park with the dist. install. You'll need some one to cranck it for ya unless, you have real long arms!

Yes, 6° BTC. Don't forget to connect the Set Timing Connector back up.
