Non functioning Tach

Hey guys,I'm posting this for a friend who doesn't have internet access.
Anyways, today he is driving around, all is good then, as he gets to open up a little the tach no longer works. Any suggestions?
Please help as he is waiting for answer from me. Thanks in advance.
Matt

chek the wires going into the distributer. either the white connection or the brown connector(each one wire) controls the tach.
