Oil Sending Unit

Any help on the location of the oil sending unit on a 92 RS, 305 TBI?

Thanks!

It's right above the oil filter. It can be a pain to get off though. Even with the sending unit socket. It's such a tight fit. I remember breaking the plastic part of the old sending unit off with tin snips. I was then able to get the socket onto the o.s.u. in order to remove it. I'm sure there's other ways to do it. Oh, I forgot to mention that it's easier to get to it from beneath the car.

Safety First.

I figured it would be in a location where I needed to get under that beast. I read in other posts that the size of the factory OSU and the replacement are slightly different. And this tool you speak of, is it a socket of some sort?

It's been a few months since I changed it out, so I don't really remember the size difference. The tool is a deep socket designed for the osu. You should be able to find one at the parts store for under 10 bucks. Make sure you have the right ratchet for the socket(I can't remember if it's a 3/8"drive or 1/2"drive).

Cool deal. Thanks. Any other info? How much oil will come out when I change it or should I change it during an oil change?

You'll probably get a dribble of oil when changing it out, but not a deluge. I didn't wait until an oil change.
