I F'n NEED HELP!!!!!!!! F the the IROC, time to sell
This ****in car has problems that i did not spot when I saw the car. As you know the bought the car with a blown 305 and replaced it, now the car starts up and revs to 3000 and won't move(IAC??? MAF???), the temp gauge won't work(and with voltage changes it moves up or down) and the fans don't turn on b/c i can't find the wire to the sensor between cly 5 and 7, is is black wire? pics would be great. the Oil press gauge spiked out at 0 but the engine is getting oil. now, i want every possable solution to these problems. I am this far from saing **** with f-bodies and getting a truck for my dirtbike. PLEASE someone ****ing help me.
The first startup it backfired and cought the intake on fire and my dad paniced and rips out the intake Y thing(filter cover) and the MAF cam with it, well he throw it outside and is it possable that is one souce of my problem(s)

As far as it backfireing, bad spark timing flag goes up for me. Hmmmm, 3000 rpm idle - TPS (throttle position sensor) is probably shot or serious vacuum leak somewhere. Like I said, I'm not a tech but these are some of the things that I'd check. As far as the other problems, have some patience man... there's alot of knowledge floating around this site! Good luck!

can anyone answer my other questions are at least put in their imput on my situation and pssable fixes for my car. See other post for details on what i have tried and the results.

Back to basics, first a tune up, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filters. Then get a scanner or multi meter and start testing the various sensors that affect engine parameters, i.e. CTS (very important), TPS, IAC etc. There is no easy answer to your questions. Just a slow, take it one step at a time approach to getting the problems solved. There are links on this site to adjusting or testing probably every sensor on your car. Time to learn about the wonders of TPI!

already has a complet tune up......BRAND new 305 with 8 miles from the factory ( got it from a closed down school mechanic shop). ummm...it IDELED. yet and stayed there at about 800 rpms. now i know the CTS must be gone b/c the gauge will not work even when i hook it up. I need to get the one between cyl 5 and 7 and I think a new IAC in in order if my rigged one does not work. I am letting the car cool and then i will try it again to see what happens.
Check gaskets. That should be the prob. wih the high idle. A friend did the same thing. He replaced every sensor you can thinks off. It ran a little better, but no good. He replaced the intake manifold gasket, head gaskets,Throttle body gasket, and alot more. He fired it up and the car ran like SHIIT at first but below 2000rpm.
Then after the engine warmed up,it ran like new. the gasktes was the prob. and a loose Engine Coolent Temp. sensor connection.

Definately check the CTS. Many of the paramaters in your computer chip rely on accurate temperature readings from the CTS. If you are getting false readings it screws things up bad, trust me.
