street leagle?

I was just wondering what the conditions for a car to be street leagle are. Like maximum HP? Emissions? and other stuff?

You may have to check your local DMV for that info. It varies from state to state, and sometimes from county to county. Sorry.

It's highly unlikely that you'll find many people that know the exact limits. Run to your local inspection station and ask them, since the numbers vary greatly from place to place.

You might also want to ask them about some other weird rules and what-not. In NC, for instance, if your third brakelight has 20 LED's in it, and one of them is out, you fail.

Or, if you have a cracked windshield, ya'know, completely spiderwebbed across the entire thing, you'll pass. But, if you have a crack in a windshield that's slightly raised (i.e., you can feel it if you move your finger across it), you'll fail because it could cut the windshield wipers and decrease visability in the rain. *shrug* strange laws...

First you need to know how to spell "legal". Then go talk to the DMV and/or your local police.

Heck no, I havent lost to a Mustang in a long time.

I just am a proponent of proper spelling and grammar. Kids dont pay attention in school anymore, and teachers arent allowed to discipline. But thats a topic for another thread.

Just a thought.. Here in Ontario, the emissions testing has a little loophole in it. If the engine in the car wasn't available in that car's model year it gets classed as a 'hot rod' and only has to meet 1980 standards. So 383's and so on get a break (or 350's on some years)

I don't know if just changing the induction system will get the exemption tho (ie TPI on a crossfire model year)

They don't seem to be too picky tho, a chevette with a 1.3 liter is a hot rod

You may not have it in your area, but it never hurts to call the DOT and ask.
