I wouldn't worry if it had 4 bolt mains or not. Do you want a full roller Gen I set-up? If so you need to look at B-bodies (impala's, caprice classics, caddy broughman, and buick roadmasters) with the LO5 (350 TBI) option. You can also use a 350 out of any '96 thru 2000 (I think that was the first year for the vortec) and later truck/van with the vortec 350. You can also try to find an L98 out of a f-body or vette but chances are slim of you finding one in a yard. You may want to try ebay as well. You can buy a new LO5 shortblock from www.sdpc2000.com for $1300. You can also buy a complete 350 vortec long block crate for $2000. If your power goals aren't too crazy you may want to look for a crate. It may be cheaper in the long run that way. If your combo requires stout internals than I would rebuild a core from any of the afore mentioned vehicles.

There are many stout 2 bolt main blocks running around. My block is a 2 bolt. A 2 bolt will allow you to (now or in the future) add 4 bolt splayed main caps which are way stronger than a regular 4 bolt.

Look for a standard bore, one that hasn't been rebuilt.
