What's wrong with my car?
I was driving along yesterday, and downshifted into second. (T5). The RPMs got to almost 4K, then I let off for a stop sign.
The car started acting funny, so I limp across and pull over, and the car stalls to a stop. I couldn't get it to stay on unless I floored it, which then it would slowly limp to speed, then start shaking hard when it needed to be shifted. I could get the car going, and got it to my friends house nearby.
His dad thought it might be the clutch, but if anything, it was acting like it stayed engaged the way it would stall out, but since I'm able to shift (Got up to 40+ to get it home in 5th) at all, I ruled that out. I limped home, and when I pulled in front of my house, where it did idle, although a little low and rough, but turning the car off and turning it back on produced the same problem, stalling out unless I gave it a lot of pedal, but when I let off it would stall back off.
My dad said it might be the fuel filter and that it's acting fuel starved, but it smelled rich when we got it going around, and when I pulled up to my house. (Note: It smelled rich before this, too). Would it still smell rich if it were fuel starved? Were are the fuel filters? Are there more than one or only a single filter?
What do you guys think is wrong? I've got a weekend to get it fixed.
EDIT: I recieve NO check engine lights,a nd if it's relevant, I just put in a brand new bosch MAF sensor which cured the previous check engine light.

Get a fuel pressure gauge and check your pressure. Then get a timing light and check your timing w/ the ESC circuit disconnected.
It's likely that either the fuel pump is dying or the timing jumped.

Axle/Gears: I'm working on it,lol.
You might also want to check the catalytic converter to see if it's glowing red, a signal that it's plugged. The P.C.V. valve is another quicky that you can check. Make sure it isn't plugged.

I got it taken care of, it finally gave me a code 34, so I checked out the MAF and noticed that some of the intake plumbing for the cold air (doh!) came loose. I also changed the oil, the O2 sensor, and the fuel filter just because
