Oh Man... Need serious Help....
Hey Everyone,
I need help BIGTIME. I snaped off the heads on two of the transmission crossmember bolts. They were really rusted and I didnt use a impact wrench. Then I got an EZ out and tried to get one of them out. I snapped off the tip of the EZ out inside the bolt. How do I fix this? I am out of ideas. PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks in Advance,
Mark B

can ya take a picture so we can see how bad it's stuck in there? If you can grab it with needle nose pliars and get it out I'd suggest drilling the old bolts out and tapping to a larger size..

Chances are you won't drill the easy out. The're as hard as the drill. I've always had to use a center punch or something to break the tip loose so it wobbles in the hole, then somehow pry it out with a small screwdriver. Sometimes you can shatter it by repeated pounding but upside down like that it will not be easy on your arms. Keep soaking them with oil to break the rust down and after drilling to a middle size, somewhat close to the original size and try the easy out again.
After its out, you should be able to drill the bolt and re tap the same size (if your lucky to drill straight) Otherwise go one bigger and find new bolts.

I went through the same thing, cept I broke all 4. I ended up having to torch rectanglular sections out of the frame around the bolts. Then cut 2 new pieces of steel, drilled 2 holes in each in the correct spots, welded a nut over each hole, then welded each piece back in place. It took some time, and I ended up burning a hole through the floor, clear through the carpet, but it all works now.

You can punch the nuts out of the frame, they're just spot welded in. Open up the drain hole behind the nuts, run a nut up to the hole when you're remounting the crossmember.

My brother did the same thing when changed the exhaust manifold on his car. If you have a welder and a nut turn the heat up and try to tach the nut to your EZ out. You should be able to get enough on there to back it out. Unless your EZ out is reccessed in were it broke at. Best of luck. Been there done that didn't care for it
