Explain self-aligning rockers to me please
Man, I feel silly asking this, but I have no experience with them.
Can somebody give me a detailed description (or a link so I can read) as to what a 'self-aligning' rocker is and how it differs mechanically from a conventional rocker?
thanks

A self-aligning rocker has raised areas on the sides of the valve tip to keep the valve tip aligned with the rocker. With SA roller rockers it's basically washers on the same shaft as the roller tip.
Standard rockers are flat on the valve side, the pushrod hole in the head (or guideplates) keep the rocker from turning off the valve.
I hope that made sense. if not, try hunting down a picture of a SA rocker and it should be crystal clear then.
