How would this combo work with these 2 compression ratios??
I'm rebuilding my 305 with the intention of running a D1sc Procharger on it. However, the supercharger wont be getting put on in the near future and so what I'm wanting to know is how will the car be with a 8:1 compression (using dish pistons) as opposed to a 9.1:1 with the flat tops?? If the car is going to be sluggish I'll go with the 9.1:1.
The combo that I'm going for is Corvette L98 aluminum heads, vigilante 2800rpm manual lockup converter, crane compucam p# 104224 and modified intake.
The page for the cam specs is:
http://dab7.cranecams.com/SpecCard/D...1=Display+Card
You'll probably have to cut and paste that.
How will the car be with these mods with those 2 different comp ratios?? I have run a best of 14.7@96mph as I am at the moment.
The car is an 87 IROC with LB9 and 700R4.
Thanks for the help.

I would go with 9:1. You can always tune down the SC if it is to much.

Check with the cam manf. for the ratio that the cam will work with or it is sometimes list in parts catalogs. IF you are going to boost the engine then your gonna have to use forged pistons and there too exspenive and too much work to have to replace. Going to 8:1 will lose a little hp.

using that low of compression would be a low volumetric efficiency along with it being a slug until boost came on anyway. 9:1 would be way better number to go even with the supercharger.

Build it for 9:1 and when ya get the blower, get an intercooler too. You'll be able to run more boost and go faster on the same
octane fuel.
