thumpin' idle
Hey guys, I just got my first EFI, TPI hot rod. I'm from the old school so I'm having to adjust to all this electronic stuff. The one question I have is: Can I get a "thumpin' cam" that'll work with all this computer crap? Perhaps I should translate.
Will a computer controlled car adjust for a cam with a rough idle? I think I can handle burning my own chips if that will accomplish the cool sounding idle. I don't have to run 10 sec quarters. I just want to sound like I could.

Comp Cams Extreme Energy
datree89,
Comp Cams has a line of Computer Compatible XTreme Energy Cam Shafts available. However, don't expect too much of a "Thumpin' Idle". The computer cannot compensate for an overly agressive cam.
We installed a 12-256 in my son's LG4 Based 350 Camaro (CCC - Computer Command Control Active). There is barely a "HINT" of the cam at idle. The power band is a significant improvement over stock and we're happy with the cam.
I don't think any of the computer compatible cams will give you the "THUMP" you're looking for.
EDIT: Not all the Extreme Energy Cams are Computer Compatible.... Make sure you verify with Comp (or the Retailer) that the one you like is one of the Computer Compatible grinds.
Comp 1-800-999-0853
Sincerely,
Kurt

I'll have to admit while I like the sound of an aggressive cam, I also like the feel of the AC working well in the South GA summers. So I may keep things pretty tame anyway. The "computer" cam does sound promising.
thanks,
David
