How long does this take to put in a 1985 Camaro Z28, and about how hard is the work? I have never messed with this car by myself yet.. I hate working with belts though..But this time I have money for the part. But no extra spending cash to put it on for me...

It's -really- easy.... Like... really...

There are 3 mounting bolts... one goes through the bottom, loosen that one first... and then there are two on the top that clamp the thing in place. Loosen the one in the back, then the one in the front... the alt should now swing freely..., detach the belt. Unplug the one connector on the alt and unscrew the bolt on the other connector and undo the wires, they may be under a red cap. Make sure nothing else is hooked up, undo the bolts and slide out the old alt...

Install is the reverse of uninstall... but you might wanna connect the plug-in connector first, that can be ackward putting in once it's all bolted up... Make sure the belt is good, if it is make sure it's tight, I mean tight... I used a screwdriver for leverage to make sure it was tight... You should also clean all the connectors of residue and white powdery stuff from the connections at the alt and the battery.. also check your grounds while you're at it...

That should do it... It sounds like alot, but it's cake. Good luck.

I'm not the mechanically inclined and I have done it several times, not sure how long it took, I would say 1/2 hr.

I'm not mechanical at all and it takes me about 10 minutes. It's about at the same difficulty level as replacing your air filter, except that it involves tools.

OBTW, on the 85 it's even easier than the other post says... only 2 bolts plus the wires...

It was easier then I thought it would be... took me exactly like 10-15 mins... very simple...It was on the same skill level as changing the air filter...
