I put mine in the very front. Attached it to the front of the AC cooler. Works great for me.

Mine is out front, at the upper passenger side. It was attached originally to the a/c condensor (with the mounting straps). Since I removed my a/c, it's now attached to my radiator- same spot, using a Summit trans cooler re-mount kit (new mounting straps).

On the 85 mine is outside where the rest of the guys have thiers. On my 82 that still has A/C I have mine on the inside facing the fan almost. Both bypass the radiator (helps keep the the water cooler in the summer) and run on 3/8th rubber line.

82 Firbird, rebuilt 355 for it and slaped a 700r4 in. The 700r4 crapped out so back to the tb350

The only reason I dident put the fbird on the front is because the condenser was pinching the lines a bit too much for my liking and the cooler I got for that would not fit behing the X straps.
Any A/M cooler will do the job, find which one is rated for your car and step up one or two sizes depending on what you think will fit.
