think week ignition could be cause of bad MPG??

My milage has been going LOWER and LOWER, it was 16 when i got the car, and then went to 15 for a long while, then 14 for a shorter period, and then quickly went from 13.5 and was 12.6 the last time i filled up. i changed my plus this weekend, but i dont think it helped too much, haven't filled up yet but doesn't look like it will change more then 1 MPG at the most. i have replaced the rotor and cap, and the wires are still good, do you guys think that with 200,000 miles on the stock coil that maybe its getting bad? or any other suggestions? i have replaced the O2 sensor about a month or two ago with no change.

A complete tune up will be in order which requires all that.If that dosn't help then a compression test will help tell you what shape your engine is in.Also check for vaccum leaks.

ok, now i know how hard changing the plugs are, so how many thousand times harder is it doing a compression test, engine needs to be warm right?

Not to my knowledge. You just take out a spark plug on the cyclinder you will be testing. What kind of engine and year model car do you have?

I sorry, but I didn't read your sign.As long as your cyclinders come within 10% of each other your engine is in great shape.8.1 or higher is good especially if you have a high milage car.

Bad spark'll do it.

Change the coil anyways... relatively cheap and not very labor intensive.

how much is it for a MSD coil, i know Crane Cams has a coil for $54, and i might as well start on my way to a better ignition set up.

anyone got any other ideas?
