Questions on 305 heads

I have recently acquired a 305 TPI motor from an '88 T/A..

I havent had a chance to pull the valve covers and check the casting #s, but typically, what heads came on this year 305??

If you could give me info like chamber cc's, port volume, valve sizes that would be great.. Also, are these typically thin castings? Or is there enough material to safely port them?

thanks in advance

You should have the 081 castings.

I've never messed with a set, so I don't know that much about them, but they are the 87-up versions of the 416 castings. Probably 1.84"/1/5" valves, 58cc chambers. Plenty of meat to port them - just like the 416's.

sounds like an LB9 engine that has the 081 heads. They have potential. Keep them and learn how and where to port. Or pay a couple hundred and have someone else do it.
