Engine build
Engine build
MY name is kevin and Ive been looking at the site for somtime now and Its a really nice well put together site, but now I need some help. Ok Ive got a 87 z28 with a carb 350 making about 275 hp to the wheels. My Question is I want to build a 400 sb but dont know how to go. I want to make around 400 FWHP but I want to do a buget build. I do how ever need every thing for oil pan to carb on this build becouse I have other plans for the engine thats in the car now. When I mean buget I dont me the cheapest **** thats out there. I want ARP every thing. At most I only gonna spin the motor to maybe 6500RPM. It will be a street car with come track duty. If you have time plz put me a build sheet together. Also I might spray a 100-125 shot every now and again so keep that in mind. Thanks

IMO 6500 RPM and nitrous doesn't equate to a budget build... at least not a cheap one.
It's fairly cheap to use 5.7" Eagle H-beam rods and TRW/Speed-pro forged pistons.
Dart pro-1 heads are about $1000 /pair
I'm partial to stainless 1.75" full-length headers,
RPM or Air-gap design intake, and MSD distributors.
