got a new set of heads

I just got a set of Pro Topline heads for free, brand new. What is the optimal way to modify them for better performance? They are part number 2236494083. http://www.protopline.com/2236494083.asp the link to the Pro Topline page.Any ideas would be welcome.

ah, those aren't super high perf heads eh? More of a stock replacement? vortec style chamber, 76 cc eh? (can't argue with the deal you got though, price is right!)
what pistons on your 350? you may want to have these heads milled down a bit to bump up cr. Or you could shoot for perfect quench (or both...)
if you're in a porting mood, you could at least sand smooth and polish the exhaust ports, and the chambers. Perhaps touch up the short side radius. That's all i'd feel comfortable doing on brand new aftermarket heads, chances are the ports are better then anything I could do to them...

Sonix, you said these were 76cc heads? I'm reading on teh site that they are 64's, and I don't think youd want to take those down anymore. CR should be right.

Take them to a machine shop and have them tear the heads a new a-hole.
Have them port the hell out of them and get machining for bigger valves and bigger springs so you can run a nice cam. After all of that, you will probably have a set of decent heads.

oops, my bad, yes you have have 083 ones, so those are 64ccs...
9.5-10:1 is good to shoot for. Stock pistons? Your cr might be a bit on the lower side then. Have to measure it up to be sure.

if you have flat top pistons, you'll be a hair above 10:1
use em the way they are, you'll love em!
you didn't say what cam you have, might i suggest a comp xe274?would be great with a 24-2600 stall too!
