Engine math

ok, whats the formula for figuring lift with larger rocker arms, say like 1.6s or so. and is there a formula for figuring pushrod length?

You can't figure pushrod length. Best bet is to start with the stock length and go from there. Get a pushrod checker.

Regarding the lift with different rockers here is the deal. If you know the lift of the cam lobe you multiply by either 1.5 or 1.6 depending on your rocker ratio. If the lobe is .320 than multiplying by 1.5 would equal .480 lift. Multiplying by 1.6 would give you .512 lift.

If you know the lift with a 1.5 rocker than divide the lift by 1.5 to give you the lobe lift. Than you can multiply that result with the rocker ratio you will be installing. Say the lift is 5.30 with a 1.5 rocker. Than dividing 5.30 by 1.5 equals .353". Multiply .353 with 1.6 and you get .565". Those are just some examples.

Multiply the valve lift by 1.6/1.5=1.06667.

Don't take shortcuts or guess at pushrod length. All it will do is cost you more in intake gaskets, replacing wadded up pushrods, and frustration.Don't ask me how I know
