starter wont fit

ok i have a problem with a starter its a 75 block i tryed to put a 74 corvette starter on it with a 168 tooth flexplate but the problem is that without any shims the starter is still to far away from the block almost 3 paper clips inbetween the teeth of the starter and flexplate. now i heard that there is a special starter i can get for this or i can file a starter down so it would raise it up more. are these my only choices or is there anymore thanks.

Starter problem

If you want to continue using the 75 block, you may have to use a Truck starter, thats what I had to do. The NAPA part number was 246-4795. (I think) You can check online at www.napaonline.com just look it up for a 75 chevrolet 1/2 ton truck.
