Base timing?

Was wondering what people ran their base timing to? I had 6 degrees for the longest time, but someone suggested to run 12 , 14 degrees timing. I have a stock L98 with aluminum edelbrock heads, hsr , 58mm tb, 30lbs injectors, comp cam 266h-r14, 1-5/8 headers, 3inch exhaust.

I have to use 0 because of all the advance my chip throws at it, to keep it from detonating. The trick is to learn to read your spark plugs and add as much advance as possible without detonation.
