9 Bolt Covers
Am I just not looking for the right description on a 9 Bolt Cover? I can't seem to find any 9 Bolt Chrome Covers for my 87 Pont, Diskbrakes, 3.27. I see lots of 10 bolt. Anyone know where I can find a 9 Bolt cover?
Thanks

Thats one of the drawbacks of having the 9bolt...
Parts are few and far between and buying them also requires bending over and taking it between the legs...

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Chrome covers are worthless. Negatively worthwhile, in fact; since they invariably rust and look like hammered elephant plop within about a month. A painted or PCed stock one looks far better over the long term.
If you want something that actually does something useful rather than just impress the shallow-minded people who are easily distracted by the shiny things along the path, get a TA Performance cast-aluminum girdle cover. It actually strengthens the rear end instead of merely absorbing your money and looking like an 8-yr-old kid's plaything that got left out in the rain.

good advice, in a pleasant or unpleasant form is good advice. Suck it up and learn something new eh? A chrome cover, which will get rain puddles, and rocks etc, will do nothing but look nice (for a short time period). Definately get a thick aluminum girdle to add strength. I think TA performance is the only company making them for the 9 bolts though... Those thick AL covers look pretty cool too, IMHO, I have one on my 10 bolt.
FWIW I like my chrome tall valve covers, not like they take a lot of stress or see a lot of rain or elements...

I will be getting a nice Alum one with extra (more fulid space). But again way to aggressive responses. Don't get a Customer Service Job, wouldn't last long.
thanks,
thanks,
IUNNO. Ever deal with the "customer service" at the DMV? I always feel "serviced" after walking out of there...
Besides the pitting, rusting, cracking, peeling, and general finish failures of chromed "goodies" they are frequently thinner stampings than the stock pieces. That presents its own set of problems. That said, I've run chromed timing covers and rocker covers on engines resurrected as cores since they're cheaper/easier to get than good quality painted parts. I've also paid for it later by dealing with sealing and clearance problems.
Everybody fight nicely, please.

From what I understand chrome parts tend to keep the heat in. So I would not use chrome valve covers, rear end cover, transmission pan or an oil pan as examples.

Not really. He has a pretty impressive little engine considering the very few mods he has done to it, which if I recall correctly is nothing more than a full 3" exhaust with headers and a much hotter cam.

Whether the advice is tactful or not, it's still good advice. Chrome diff covers are worthless. As was brought up, go with a cast aluminum or whatnot. I personally dislike chrome....but to each their own. I'd rather the sleeper look (my engine paint scheme is flat/semi-gloss black)

Don't listen to that pathethic-bench-racer-wannbe sofakindom.
He knows nothing. He has not been there nor has he done that.
Chrome is cool.
Just take your's off and have it chromed. Problem solved.
Money well spent. You now have a shiny piece in an area of your car that only about 1/4th of it can be seen...while laying on the ground under the car.
You should accent it with a neon light.
