motor swap..
motor swap..
i put a mildly high performance 350 sbc carb'd motor in a 305 tbi car.its a 87 caprice .but i think still same motor as whats in the 3rd gens.. but anyway..
i read the section on tbi to carb swap..
now it states, i think,,, that i have to use and aftermarket distributor or an older distrubitor from 74-83.. but i used the stock distributor and it is working.. initial timing is 25... and total timing is 37... car starts fine runs fine....
not sure what i am asking but is this possible.. it was 4am when i finally got done with the car....
some people run cars totally locked out at 38 ,,, so i just want to re assure myself that this friend of mine car is gunna be ok...

If theres no ECM, then pull the stock dist. out. Theres some advance built in due to amplitude increases with speed in the signal from the pickup coil, but its not very much, and theres also no vacuum advance like youd have with a standard HEI.
