Smoke from restored engine
Hi!
I have restorded my 350 board to a 355 ,and a pair of trickflow heads on it.
The problem is that after about 30 seconds it starts to smoke oil heavely and even more if i hit the trottle a bit.
It is so much that you cant drive the car.
We have put in a new set of rubber valve seals, but there are no difference.
Can there be a major failor in the engine, are there any smart way to lokate the oil leak whitout take the engine out?
Thanks for replays

I chould alsoe say that the fuel pressure dont stay up for long like it use to be,when you turn the engine off it only takes a few seconds for it to drop to zero.
I can remember that it was not doing that, when i first tested the fuellines ,before finishing the engine.
Can there be a failure at some injector?
I have heard that a wery rich fuel combo can go to the pistons and cose a oil flush up to the combustion chambers.
Sorry for my spelling, but maybe you now what i ment.

how many kms on the new motor since initial fire up?
since it's an internal oil leak, it's harder to find then an external leak (use a dye.)
what kind of break in procedure did you follow? what oil is in it? Have you driven it much at all? Like how much oil is it burning?
I'd say you missed a few rings or something.
oh, one test you can do, is pull each spark plug and examine it. Chances are some will be white from leanness, or more likely, black and sooty from richness. You want to find any that are very oiley. Fire up the motor, get it nice and smoking then pull the plugs and check. If they're all too black to find out anything, clean them up until they're fairly white, then put them in, restart, let it smoke, then shut it down and check it again.

Ok
The car has never been driven yet, just started, the engine is rebuilt by a engineshop specialist.
He has inspeted the engine whith a fiberoptic and can see that it is a mixture of black oil in at least three cylinders.
I found this on the internet:A very heavily over rich mixture will also cause this. Excessive petrol in the bores, oil 'washes' up past the rings from the sump, this is called petrol wash.
Running 15/40 oil Quakerstae.

Well it's not called 'petrol' wash
but yea, that can happen. Do you have reason to believe the motor was running very rich?
how did you break in the motor? Did you?
If your rings haven't seated yet, that may be the cause. Or if they're washed out. That'd be worst case.
Or, as sofa mentioned, oil could be getting sucked in from the heads. I imagine you have thread in rocker studs. Pull off your valve covers, and remove a rocker, and remove the stud. If there's some white goopy stuff on the threads, then chances are they all have it. If it's dry, put on sealant on all of them, and try it again.

I can smell fuel at the intake ,and do you, really think that a leaking stud could case that heavy smoke,it actually drops black oil from the exhaust when i remove the y pipe before the cat.
The engine has only run for a few minutes.
Thanks
