Help Car died while coming to a stoplight

My car was running great yesterday and as i was coming to a stop for a stoplight my car died. I checked just about everything i could at the side of the road and everything looked good except im getting no spark whatsoever at the plugs, coil or anything. Also i noticed that everytime i try to crank the car the tachometer doesnt show anything. My tachometer has always shown like 500 rpms when cranking the car. This morning i put in a new coil and still the same problem. Im at a loss as where to look next. This is my daily driver so i can not get to work and need to get this running. Car is a 89 350TPI freshly rebuilt to a 355. Im still running MAF

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Ignition module

Just change it out, "testing" it is not very conclusive

I had the same problem with my 89 camaro, I changed almost every electronic part, then figured out it was my ECM. No it runs great. Good luck

ECM failure = very very rare

It's the ignition module

Just change it out, it's cheap and easy

I'll second the Ignition Module.

Go with AC Delco. Stay away from Accel. I've had their IM's die on me a couple times.

yep my ignition module left me stranded a couple of weeks ago as well. it seems the voltage regulator in the alternator blew and blew up my ignition module with it. the ignition module is an easy part to replace. Part Source even tested my old one to verify that it was bad.

Thanks for the help after the first reply i went and got an ignition module i was gonna get the ac delco but it wasnt in stock so i got the GP sorensen one. I was skeptical about the accel so i got the cheaper GP sorensen. PLus it had a liftetime warranty. It fixed the problem. Well now the car got a new MSD coil also.
