clunk when braking

1991 camaro rs, 3.1L 700R4 auto

i hit the brake, I hear clunk from left front side.
the brake works fine, just gives me this annoying sound.
my brake pads are new, rotor resurfaced recently also.

I torqued my tires really tight(in right sequence)
but without torque wrench. I just used normal wrench and really tightened up.

im not sure what this psosibly do to my brake, but is this a possibility I warped something?

sometime after i park my car, i see something slightly dripping, near my left tires.
couldnt id the fluid but since it looks like black,
is it brake fluid leaking? my master cylinder's still full though.

its kinda loud and getting annoying

any is appreciated
thanks!

i had the same thing - turns out my front left shock was leaking and i needed a lot more suspension repairs than that!

most likely the pad retaining clip has come loose and it's the backside pad hitting the front of the caliper when you hit the brakes.

my shocks are new also.. so hopefully its not my shocks.

87CIZ, if what ur saying is true
will that explain the little leak of fluids too?

so will I need like a new caliper? or can i just open the whole thing up and
tighten it up or something?

thanks!!!

If the clip's come loose you'll be able to slide the pad around in the caliper while it's mounted. If it stays in place you're good. The clunk could be a number of suspension related things. Bad shock mount, shock, suspension linkage, sway bar mount, etc.

If you're not comfortable checking everything yourself (or can't find it), take it to an alignment shop for an inspection. They should charge you a basic rate, tell you what's wrong, give you an estimate then you can decide if you want to fix it yourself or not.

Find out where the fluid is coming from. If it drips overnight place something clean under it (cardboard, whatever) then trace it to the source in the morning. It could be power steering fluid, engine oil, strut oil or brake fluid on the left side.

thanks naf.

the drip is very slight, and only noticable after I park my car
after driving. it doesnt happen overnight.

I did check my sway bar end link and its in place.
my shocks are new but I dont know how worn my shock mount is(didnt know that thing wears out)
balljoints are new, and all my brake's been serviced recently too
so kinda disappoints me I still have problem again..

I think ill take it to an alignment shop, thanks!
