Intermitt Starter problems..HELP!!!!!!

Ok, here is the deal. Sometimes ill go to start my camaro and it will just "click" it will do this a couple of times or just once and then start right up. Ive replaced the Positive bat cable cause it looked worn, I put in a new starter, Alt, and battery and checked all the grounds. Im not sure if the grounds are where GM put them. The battery is grounded to the fender on the passenger side on the side by the battery, and the firewall is grounded to the intake manifold. Both ground wires are new with new connections. Some days it will start up everytime, somedays it will just hesitate and turn and somedays it will just click a few times everytime you turn the key then it will fire right up. Im at a loss. do you think it could be my ignition module or anyother part of the ignition, either key or whatnot? Or maybe the ECM is wanting to go bad? Im at a loss any help would be great thanks.

Ignition components would be more likely to cause a "turns-over-but-will-not-run" condition more than an intermittent 'no crank' problem. Every thirdgen I've seen has had the battery grounded directly to the engine, with a good ground strap on the back of a cylinder head going to the firewall. I would move your battery's ground cable to the engine itself. Hope that helps!

I was going to say starter solenoid, as that's the common "click but no crank"... But with a new starter....?

VATS? I know nothing of this, just that it's a total PITA, and your car falls in that year..

If you have a clicking and not turning starter best way to "test" it is to tap it with a hammer while some one cranks it. If it starts up, 99% of the time the solenoid is having the plunger that pulls the gear outwards getting stuck. Next thing to do after that is remove the start and take it to a local TRUSTED parts store or shop and have them bench test the starter....and then go from there.

BTW, if you want to avoid changing it in the future, go with the Ford remote solenoid mod, you will NEVER have a heat soak no start problem, and it is easier with the starter off the car.

Good Luck!!
