Decent Replacement Elec Washer Pump ?

Anybody else had this problem with their washer squirter pump?

For over 20 years we've replacing these things on our '84 Firebird. It's a little pump that slides up into the wiper motor housing and connects to the rubber hoses on the bottom. They just never seem to last - usually the motors hang in there - it's the dinky impeller things that seem to give out. I don't think the last one I put in could have lasted more than 9 months. I've tried GM and aftermarket replacements.

Anybody found a brand that works well or lasts?

Thanks

(I'm thinking next time round I'll see if I can find an aftermarket 'generic' model and just mount it on the firewall somewhere and wire it up.)

Maybe it's just me. They just seem to be incredibly short lived. Just using lung power I can easily blow through the hoses and the tank just has the blue stuff. I might look again real close and see if there's any debris but I didn't notice anything obvious.

thanks

The only way i coyuld see one of those things going bad, was if you didnt have a fuse or too big of a fuse hooked to the power source...

I have a front and rear pump. I don't use them often and when I do, they seem to be 'dry' (you can hear them working but no fluid appears). If I play with them long enough, washer fluid will finally appear. At any rate, the pump may not be bad at all.
