Running rough
Please help !!! if you can. New every thing. Was running fine until I replaced the starter and arched positive lead on new starter to engine block. she startes but idles rough especially when cold Back fireing through intake. Touched all header tubes and they are all hot (wet finger test). Tried to reset IAC motor and TPS, no check engine light. Did a hard reset (disconected the batery for 20 min). I am about to replace the chip and see if that makes a diference before I take it in to have a diagnostic test done. Any ideas ??? Thanks

Check your fusable links to comp (in line fuses and fuse block ign. fuse)
NEXT time, disconnect battery FIRST before replacing the starter.

Is there a web site or does anyone know where I would find the fuseable links that go to the computor. It would probably help to know the location of all the fusseable links. The only one that I have found and replaced was one for the cooling fan, the link is located on the positive cable by battery. If I had a burned link to the computor or popped the ignition fuse would not that cause the car to not run at all?

You have a point there. Might want to take it and get it tested. Someone else had your problem once but I can't find it now. I think they toasted something in the ign. control module but they had the key on when they shorted the pos. to ground. I looked in the Haynes manual and it only shows a fuseable link between the solinoid and ALT. and-or between the battery and ALT. on 85-89 models. Do you have a way to check your Alt. output?
If something is cooked in the Alt. and it's not putting out the correct voltage, it will effect how the car runs like putting pump gas in a blown nitro funny car!
The computer needs da juice.

I have still been driving the car (it sucks when it dies) but it fires right up no problem. The car has a volt meter and I can see the voltage rise upon start up and when turning everything on every thing is bright. I know alternator is good. I had that problem before when I had a bad battery and was sitting at a light and it would die and not start, untill jumped. Hence new alternator, battery, and now the starter. Check engine light came on today code 34 which is either my MAF, MAP, or ECM. I am going to remove My Corvette chip and replace it with my hypertech chip and see if makes a difference. Oh I will be disconecting the battery LOL.
