problem with warm starting
i have an 89' iroc-z with the L98 5.7L tpi and i have been having a problem with the car starting after it gets warm. the car cold starts good w/o issue and it runs fine no matter how much i drive it. it will restart if i only drive it for 10-15 mins. but if i drive it for 30 mins. or more and then i shut it off, it wont restart until it sits for atleast an hr. or so. and i mean it wont restart at all. It doesn't crank and it doesn't click and ive already put a brand new starter in it thinking that maybe it was the selenoid but the problem is still there and for as much as i can tell after closer inspection is that the fuel pump doesn't turn on either. i don't know what it could be and i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what it ended up being? or if someone has some insight on what it could be besides the starter or selenoid. thank you, your help would be greatly appreciated, bigbad89roc

I had that problem when I went to Florida to visit my Dad. The starter ended up getting heat soaked and wouldn't energize. Try spraying down the starter with a can of brake clean when it won't start. Use alot so that it cools the starter. If it starts up, there's your answer. They also make a heat shield for starters that's supposed to help with that. Good luck and post back.
