helllo I am having a few problems with my car.maybe someone can help..
I have a 1989 firebird 2.8 fuel injected moter.
when I start my car.I can smell exaust and sometimes I rev it up or drive at high speeds...exaust goes in my car through the air vents of my AC.anyone know what that means?

someone told me maybe my catalytic converter is clogged.

and then someone eles told me I could have bad Fuel Injectors. do to loss of power and the car warms up power is lost.


so heres what problems I have maybe someone can help.

1.My car has power when cold.Loses power once its all the way warm.

2.Exaust comes in my air vents when reving my moter. and when I start my car a cloud of exaust comes out my pipes.

3.when driving my car sometimes I have to let my foot off the gas and re-accelerate to shift my gears. on my automatic.and sometimes when my car is cold it shifts to early.


I dont know what it could be.too many different storys.

I was also told it was the fuel pump.I just replaced it yesterday and still have the problems. so I know its not that.

so if anyone can help. I would be thankful.

 

First off it sounds like you have a nice sized exhaust leak, have that fixed before you kill yourself!

 

yeah it is pretty strong, and I have to drive it to work everyday.I work at a chevy dealership and the tecs are to busy sometimes to talk. but can I really die from the fumes?

 

Yes you can definately kill yourself from the exhaust. I recommend driving with a window open at all times.

I always have a window cracked in my car since my exhaust dumps right under the front seats. It doesnt take long to smell the exhaust in the car if your sitting. And the worse part of it is the gas that kills you has no smell, so even though you think you dont have exhaust in the car you might end up finishing your drive in an ambulance...

Exhaust leaks are serious business, dont mess around!

 

ooohhh ok. that explains the major headache I had this morning after I got to work. thanks for the advice on that one. first thing tomarrow I am gonna inform one of the tecs there.I cant go on like this.....


but besides the exaust. what about powe loss?
