engine build up suggestions

First off I'm building a 350 for a 85 corvette blueprinted, with around 9:2:1 compression. Topped off with afr 190 heads, edelbrock proflo tpi intake, accel superram, and 52mm throttlebody . The cam i'm thinking of using is a lingenfelter 74219 cam .560 lift, 219 duration. I have a 2200 stall, and 3:08 gear. Exhaust consist of 1 5/8 long tube headers and 2 1/4 dual exhaust. I am planning on a pcmforless tune and wondering on injector size. Does this sound like a good combination, any suggestions appreciated. How much flywheel horsepower do you think it will be good for? Is there a better cam choice than what i have picked out, i already have the 219 cam. Also i have both 1.5 and 1.6 rockers.

So.... I don't get it, why join a 3rd gen forum and then say you're building a motor for a vette? Why not just join a corvette forum?

Its not worth it to use aluminum heads with a measly 9.2:1 CR. Bump that up to around 10:1 and you'll get much more out of the motor. Put more gear into it too... 3.42 or so at least. You'll have way more fun with a 3.42 or 3.73 gearset than you would with lame 3.08s.

build up

I joined the forum because if you stop to think some 3rd gens have L98s right, yes, my point is all 1985-1991 corvettes have L98 so thats why. Also there are a lot of knowledgable people on here so I was looking for opinions and advice concerning mainly my cam. Last I already have these parts from a past project so I was just trying used what I had, unless there is something better suited.

That's a good combination, a lot of people running it on this forum. I have the combination in a Trans Am and went 13.1@106mph 1/4 mile with street tires. Some guys have went as fast as 12.50s on the combination. Makes good power all around.

You might want to check out the 'Alternate Port Injection' forum on this board. There are a lot of people on it with the combination you are thinking of building.

Hope this helps, welcome aboard!

I agree on the compression ratio. You need to bump that up a full point to around 10.2:1. You are leaving maybe 20 horsepower on the table and probably as much torque if not more.

You will want at least 24# injectors.

Thanks for all the replies, I was thinking earlier and the engine came with 9:5 compression with the 76cc heads now I'm using 68cc heads so it should be close to 10 to 1.
